What is Ultrasound skin tightening?
Ultrasound skin tightening comes under different names such as Ultherapy, Ultracel and Ultraformer III. It is one of the gold standard, sagging skin treatment. It is a non-invasive procedure which is FDA approved for non-surgical skin tightening and face lifting.
HIFU can be used to improve the firmness of the skin on your belly, arms and thighs too.
How does a HIFU facelift work?
This treatment works by emitting High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) into the deep tissues under your skin skin. We first target a depth of 4.5 mm inside the facial skin to stimulate muscle tightening. Then a depth of 3 mm is targeted to melt unwanted fat and sculpt the face. This gives you a chiseled jawline and a ‘V lift’. Last but not the least, a depth of 1.5 mm is targeted for fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation and to shrink and tighten skin pores.
How many sessions of HIFU are needed?
I recommend a single session for those who are in their 30s, two sessions if you are in your 40s. After that you can choose to have maintenance sessions once a year.

Laser Skin Tightening
This treatment is done with the Q-switched Nd:Yag laser or Intense pulsed light (IPL). It commonly known as IPL Photofacial. Laser Photofacial is ideal for skin glow and to tighten pores of the face. It also tightens skin on the forehead.
Another variant of this treatment is the Hollywood Laser Peel or Carbon Laser peel. In this treatment we apply a thin layer of carbon on the skin and then the q-switched laser beam is used to heat the carbon. This treatment removes dead cells, unclogs pores, reduces pigmentation and bleaches facial hair.
Laser Skin Resurfacing
Fractional CO2 laser, erbium glass laser or Fraxel too work as a face tightening treatment. These lasers primarily improve the texture of the skin and correct scars. But they do stimulate collagen formation and tighten loose skin.
Laser skin resurfacing is the only treatment with maximum down time among all the skin tightening treatments. It is the only one that needs strict post procedure skin care with moisturizer and sunscreen.
